The buildings and facilities include:
A low set modular building (A Block) that opened in 1996. This houses a general learning area/classroom, an Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) computer lab, a resource room, a storage room and cleaning cupboard. The general learning area is air-conditioned (reverse cycle) and has wheelchair access.
A new low set modular building (Admin) was opened in 2010 under the Building Education Revolution (BER) Program. It houses an administration area/office, a library, a meeting area and the Principal's Office. This became a second classroom in 2018 due to the increase in enrolments and due to the Kindergarten regulations allowing a maximum of 25 students in A Block.
A large playing oval, including a cricket pitch.
Two large, shade covered adventure playgrounds.
A flood-lit tennis court that was fully refurbished in 2015.
Two large covered areas adjoining a fully equipped kitchen that also serves as a staff/parent room.
Covered walkways that link the classroom building to the covered area.
Two double bay storage sheds and a shed housing sporting equipment.
A fully air-conditioned three-bedroom house for Principal accommodation.
An additional one bedroom self-contained donga for Teacher accommodation.
Resource centre
Students are encouraged to borrow books once per week from a wide range of Junior Fiction, Fiction and Non-Fiction books.
New books are purchased through a standing order arrangement.
We have a Scholastic Annual Book Fair each year in conjunction with our major P&C Fundraiser in Term 3. Profits from the Book Fair provides funds to purchase new books for the School Library.
Water supply
Valkyrie State School does not have a permanent water supply and relies on nature and a large number of rainwater storage tanks. During periods of dry weather, water must be trucked in for drinking, amenities and watering the very limited gardens. Toilets are operated by a septic system.
